Women is 5 times at the risk of developing thyroid disease

Thyroid diseases are the diseases that arise due to abnormality activities in the small gland in the neck, just below the Adam’s apple. These diseases were more found in women.
The prevalence is 5-7 times than in men.
Thyroid diseases including hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and thyroid cancer.

Until now, yet it can be concluded clearly the cause of this risk in women.
One of the possible occurrence of these cases is hormonal factors.

This disease seems related to an autoimmune reaction. In this condition, the body attacks the thyroid gland because it is considered as foreign cells that enter the body.
This causes the cells in the thyroid gland is dead and can not produce thyroid hormones.
While the problem of stress, is not as an originator, but a factor that will make things worse.

Autoimmune reactions can be stimulated by conditions of pregnancy, and usually only appear after childbirth. Of course, not all pregnant women automatically have an autoimmune reaction.

In the pregnant condition, there will be changes in the female body’s immune system. This is because there is a fetus which described as a foreigner. Women will begins to adjust immunologically. This process is unique because a woman’s body will learn to not reject nor accept.
At this time, the disorder can occur, such as autoimmune reactions against the cells in the thyroid gland.

Especially in women at high risk, this reaction can occur after childbirth.
